Web sites that invite tradespeople to register and then tender for work (online tendering) are in theory a good idea. Prospective customers can lodge a job and then wait for various tradespeople to pitch for the business – an efficient free market mechanism
Today our business was asked to complete a job that another window cleaning business failed to complete properly. Windows were streaky, frames were dirty, screens were not only left dirty, the windows behind the screens were ignored!
When talking to the customer, who was delighted with the quality of our work, we established that the other window cleaning business quoted significantly below market and was therefore initially chosen over our bid. Therein lies a trap for customers; relying on price alone can result in an unprofessional result and increase risk.
